Ok, now I've hooked up the Ayre QB-9 DAC in place of the Musical Fidelity M1DAC, and the change is remarkable. The sound stage has doubled in size and become deeper, the bass is much deeper and more taught, and it's like a veil has been lifted. I haven't even hooked up the REL R-218 sub yet (I am adding the new bits slowly to the system, like new fish to an aquarium, to see what effect each has on the ecosystem). This is truly remarkable. The sub comes next.
