Relatively wide variety in music taste. Preferred genres include indie and punk rock, as well as jazz (late 50s/early60s primarily). Anything with piano or keyed instruments will spark my interest. Some favorite bands/artists would be Beck, Bad Religion, Death Cab For Cutie, Iron & Wine, Ben Folds, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Brubeck Quartet, Grant Green, Lagwagon, Gaslight Anthem/Horrible Crowes, Inara George, NOFX and others...

So my favorite local record store, which did a midnight opening/get together for Record Store Day, has been forbidden to do so this year by the RSD folks(!?) 8:00am opening… I’ll be arriving to get in line (or hopefully start the line) at about 5:00. RSD!!!!!!!!
a good friend and I were roommates 2011/12. We parted ways this past March... yesterday I made a visit to his new place, and what do I see? An Audio Technica turntable hooked up to a vintage Harman Kardon receiver and MTX speakers! I HAVE OFFICIALLY SPREAD THE STEREO VIRUS!!!
Got another piece of music-related art work to hang by the system... I FINALLY have a jazz-related piece! Just finished mating/framing/hanging yesterday, pics to follow soon!
A photographer friend of mine is letting me barrow his old Canon G10... so naturally the stereo got a photo shoot. Just put up some pics, check them out!
I found out AXPONA is held in Chicago this March, a mere 30 minute drive for me! About two minutes after that I realized I'll be visiting my brother in Louisiana that week........ NOT FAIR!!
my favorite local record store had a sale for the internet-savvy yesterday; those who 'like' them on Facebook received 10% all vinyl! I got a brand new (FAT) pressing of Thelonious Monk and Sonny Rollins, and a Verve Japanese import of Bud Powell's '57! The import includes the Japanese sleeve/label (including the 2,300 yen price tag) and the original outer protection sleeve. The best part? The record is in PERFECT condition. A great find!!
SYSTEM UPGRADE: my decade old DVD player finally died, so I replaced it with a shiny new Playstation 3! This will be my new transport (running the digital audio out into my DAC), and FINALLY give me 1080p content on my TV. This will also help cure the occasional video game itch... LET THE NERD FLAG FLY!
