Its a topic that has surfaced in other places but I don't think has been collected in a way that makes it easy to check out which single artist, band or event had such an impact on you that it formed the foundation for your future listening experience and do you still listen to the same genre(s) of music that you did in your formative years, or have you found something new as you've grown and matured.

Should be fun to then go and check them out.

For me, it was Free with the Album Fire and Water.

There are no announcements yet.
Prince, yeah. I made my own "Rude Boy" buttons with a black marker and clear paint. I knew all the lyrics to every song. Watched Purple Rain on cable TV as often as I could. Led Zeppelin. I scoured used record stores so I could buy all the six different covers of In Through the Out Door. Having the original paper wrapper was a plus, but I'd buy the album without it. Didn't really appreciate the Beatles until I was much older (35??). I liked the Stones!! (A REAL rock band).

Speaking of being older....my parents went to a jazz series in Denver, it was Gibson Jazz Series, held at the Paramount Theater, I believe. One year the theater was under construction, I believe, and they changed venues to a dark, smoky dinner club atmosphere....perfect for jazz, no?? That's when I went, but I was really too young to fully appreciate it. I didn't know the first thing about jazz, yet I still cherish the experience. I'd like to do it again, as an older person. I think I'd enjoy it even more. It was worthwhile, though, because it laid the foundations of my later music appreciation.
